Congressman Gonzalez announces $10 million in disaster assistance loans from SBA

Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced more than $10 million in federal disaster loans for South Texas businesses and residents impacted by severe storms and flooding that occurred between June 24 and 25 and were approved by the Small Business Administration. The deadline to register for federal assistance is Monday, Sept. 16.

Businesses of all sizes and private nonprofit organizations may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory and other business assets. The SBA can provide economic injury assistance, available regardless of whether the business suffered any property damage, and lend additional funds to help businesses and residents with the cost of making improvements that protect property from the same type of damage in the future.

“The federal government is here to assist those in Hidalgo, Willacy and Cameron Counties who sustained damages to their homes and businesses during the devastating flood that caused serious damage to homes and businesses in June,” Congressman Gonzalez said. “Deadlines to register for this aid are fast approaching and I encourage all who can to take advantage of these resources.”
