Cardi B to perform at South Padre Island spring break 2019

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND — Spring Break is just a season away.

For many of the thousands of students who make the trek to South Padre Island from across the state and country, it will be a rite of passage of nonstop partying in paradise.

And the queen of hip hop, Cardi B, will be there to lead the transition from the books to a good time on the beach.

She is the first big-time artist who has committed to perform March 13 during Spring Break 2019 at Rockstar Beach, according to Beach Bash Music Fest promoters.

Other artists also on the list so far are Rich the Kid and DJ Pauly D.

DJ Pauly D is a reality TV icon and live music sensation.

Rockstar Beach concerts are held behind the Isla Grande Hotel.

Two miles up shore at Claytons Beach Bar owner, Clayton Brashear, is working on his own music guest line up for Spring Break 2019.

He said he has been talking to promoters and artists to stack up big name acts for Texas week beginning March – to March 17.

“It seems like I’m the last one to get it done,” Clayton said. “As you get them booked then you can finally make a bigger calendar.”

Brashear knows how to throw a party, especially for Spring Break.

He offers all day beach parties at Clayton’s Beach Bar and in the evening the big acts take the stage on the deck overseeing the beach.

Thousands of Spring Breakers from around the country will inevitably land at both Rockstar Beach and Clayton’s to enjoy the shows.

The Island draws more than 50,000 college students from around the country for Spring Break.

When asked about who’s coming next year he said.

He knows once the party over on Rockstar Beach is over everyone comes to Clayton’s.

“We have to do as much as we can to entertain them and make sure they are safe,” Brashear said. “During Texas Week it’s the parents of the state of Texas sending their children down here and they want to know we keep them safe and entertain them at the same time.”

Last year Clayton’s brought controversial top 10 Billboard artist Tekashi69, and it got crazy.

The day after the event Brashear said, “You just had to be there.”
